This two-day conference brings together legal leaders from top automotive OEMs, regulatory experts, outside counsel, and technology partners to explore the current legal and policy landscape and how it impacts the business of building & selling motor vehicles to customers. Through a mix of panel discussions and networking opportunities, participants will gain actionable insights into the automaker–customer relationship and the legal and policy that matter.

The U.S. auto industry is in a period of unprecedented uncertainty. Severe policy swings from administration to administration on fundamental matters such as fuel economy, environmental regulation and safety standards, require significant investments from automakers and then put those investments at risk as one administration gives way to another. Protectionist policies in the current Administration and Capitol Hill complicate OEM supply chain management, while policymakers respond to the threat posed by Chinese automakers entering the North American market. Dealers are responding through aggressive franchise legislation on matters such as warranty repair and parts markups. Often absent in these legal and policy considerations is the customer, and the need to ensure that automakers are building vehicles customers want to buy and dealers are creating a car-buying experience that puts the customers’ needs first.
